Flipkart Plus to launch on August 15: Features, subscription fee and more

Flipkart is all set to launch Amazon Prime rival in India. Called Flipkart Plus, the loyalty programme will go live this Independence Day (August 15). "On Independence Day, reward yourself with a slew of benefits as Flipkart launches Flipkart Plus, a one-of-a-kind no-fee customer benefits program with a wide range of benefits and rewards. And absolutely no strings attached," says the company on its website. This is Flipkart's second attempt at loyalty programme.

Will be on same lines as Amazon Prime
Flipkart’s new loyalty program will similar to arch-rival Amazon's Prime membership service. Flipkart Plus comes almost two years after the launch of Amazon Prime in the country.
There will not be any subscription fee for Flipkart Plus
Yes, you heard that right. There will not be an annual subscription fee for ‘Flipkart Plus’ membership programme. The customer loyalty program is entirely free. Amazon offered its Prime membership at Rs 499 as an introductory offer. Presently, Amazon Prime's annual subscription fee is Rs 999 and the monthly fee is Rs 129.
Flipkart Plus advantages
The service will give users the option for faster and free delivery, early access to certain smartphones launched and priority customer support. Like Amazon Prime members, Flipkart Plus members too will get early access during the sale.
How will it work?
Flipkart will give users Plus Coins on every purchase they make on Flipkart website. "Flipkart Plus is a customer benefits program powered by a powerful currency called Plus Coins," says the company on its website. These Plus Coins can be used later for shopping on the company's website. Although it is not yet known if buyers will get Plus Coins on all purchases or on specific category products. These Plus Coins can also be used on websites like Zomato, BookMyShow, MakeMyTrip and other platforms as well.
